Auction for votes (Zëri)

Lavdim Hamidi says that the Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi intends to buy tens of thousands of votes. However, he does not plan to do this with his own money, even though he and his brothers financially stand better then businessmen, but they are certainly keeping their money for worse days. Thaçi has started the trade of buying votes with the money of the tax payers. He has already decided to increase salaries of 82 thousand civilian servers, believing to gain votes in return. When such decisions are made on the verge of election campaign, everyone has the right to suspect that this step was made to gain votes and not improve the standard of living of the citizens.

This method of gaining votes through public funds is not only a monopoly of the governing party. The biggest opposition party which aims to govern the country from June, has requested from the Prime Minister to increase the salaries even more, respectively, for 43 percent. If this happened, says Hamidi, there would be no economic development, and the entire budget would be spent on salaries.

Instead of thinking on how to buy votes, the two biggest parties should be thinking about investments on development projects, being an emergent need for the employment of youth who are forced to seek asylum due to the lack of perspective in Kosovo.

Thaçi and Mustafa are competing with promises on increase of salaries as if they were at some auction, each making higher offers.
