The group of women MPs from all political parties visited today the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic and got a closer understanding of the work, success, challenges, and problems the healthcare staff faces as well as the new mothers.

Myrvete Pacarada, acting director of the clinic informed the women MPs that the staff performed 10,400 births over the last year.

“We have been overloaded and faced complicated cases also from the region but there were no deaths and the work was successful and it is fortunate the clinic was renovated and is still undergoing works and we have also received donations which were welcomed,” said Pacarada.

She presented the need for additional funding for healthcare and in particular for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic as this is a place where life begins.

MP Teuta Sahatqiu, said they came to see from close the work in the clinic and the challenges the staff face and also give out symbolic gifts for the new mothers.

“We also visited the mothers who were happy for their babies but we also heard the requests of the staff for more budget and improvement of conditions in general,” said Sahatqiu.
