The issue of Kosovo Armed Forces is a done deal and not related to any political, party, or ethnic action.

This was the comment of Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hajredin Kuci, regarding the request of minority communities to include reserved seats in the opening of the Constitution for establishment of Kosovo Armed Forces.

In a press conference following a meeting with Macedonian Deputy Minister, Musa Xhaferi, Kuci said the issue of reserved seats should be opened elsewhere.

“The issue regarding the establishment of Kosovo Armed Forces is a done deal. It should not be linked to any political, party, or ethnic action as they are separate issues.”

“We invite all other political parties that are opening dilemmas fearing they will be left behind history, to support such a process at the Assembly. At the same time, we also urge communities in Kosovo not to link the issue of armed forces with that of reserved seats as they are two different things.”

“Armed Forces will serve all citizens and communities in Kosovo and have nothing to do with party, political, or ethnic positions of someone at the Kosovo Assembly or elsewhere.”

Justice Minister, Kuci, also called on the Kosovo Assembly to approve as soon as possible amendment about the KAF, after sending it to the Constitutional Court for opinion.

“We have submitted the proposed amendments. I believe the Assembly of Kosovo should endorse it will all votes in favour not just two-thirds.”

Kuci also said that Armed Forces represent everyone’s century-long will.

“First, we will not compromise on establishment of Armed Forces and we seek no guarantees from anyone in exchange for something else.”

“Second, we have been very fair with active participation and voting at the Government of Kosovo, namely the National Security Council. We should not tackle this issue at the Assembly of Kosovo. Let the issue of seats be opened somewhere else but not as a balance for Armed Forces.
Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister also spoke about the future meetings in Brussels.

He said the last meeting on justice was finalised and that the Government of Kosovo and its Prime Minister are ready to sign the agreement anytime Baroness Ashton coordinates the activity with Prime Minister of Serbia.
