In an interview for Top Show, Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj said the decision on visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens could be made this year. Hoxhaj said he will soon travel to Brussels to meet Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule, and main topic of the meeting would be the Stabilization/Association Agreement.

Hoxhaj said during his visit to Brussels he would have several meetings related to visa liberalization. He said Kosovo is the only country in the region whose citizens cannot travel freely in EU member states.

“These are information that I have received over the last couple of days. During my visit to Brussels I will be meeting with several senior officials; the aim is to prepare the decision-making process during this term of the European Commission so that when the new commission is elected after May 25 elections, the decision could be shaped for Kosovo citizens to be able to travel freely in Europe.”

Hoxhaj also said, “Following visits that I had in several European capitals, I am confident that that the people of Kosovo will get the decision for visa liberalization this year. This decision could then enter into force in January 2015, but the decision would be made this year.”
