The war veterans of the former Kosovo Liberation Army have welcomed the adoption of the law on war veterans by parliament. Muharrem Xhemajli, leader of the KLA War Veterans, said the adoption of the law implies recognition of the liberation war.
Xhemajli said there are no more than 20,000 war veterans in Kosovo and criticized the process of their verification. He added that he would call on Kosovo Security Force Minister, Agim Ceku, who also chairs the verification committee, to speed up the process.
Xhemajli reiterated the position of the war veterans against any Tribunal that would be in contravention with Kosovo’s legal system.
