The abuse of freedom (Kosova Sot)

In a front page editorial, the daily reported that if one recalls the nightmare 15 years ago, when Kosovo citizens existed, breathed and moved at gunpoint, one cannot be anything but disappointed with Kosovo’s position after more than a decade.  Expectations are always higher than reality, however, what happened to Kosovo is worse than that. “We won our freedom, but the abuse of peace deepened each day. We now have the state but we do not have justice. We have the Republic but we do not exercise sovereignty. We have the land but we do not have production. We have educated youth but no jobs for them…”

Since the conflict and the subsequent “freedom”, certain individuals became extremely rich and continue to extort public funds. The trust of the citizens has been abused, while no one from the leadership has the political courage to admit the unforgivable deviation from the ideal for which freedom fighters gave their lives. NATO bombs were a prelude of the eventual freedom. At that time, we could not imagine how we could have abused it, concludes this daily.
