Our millions, Thaçi’s millionaires (gazetablic)

According to Beqe Cufaj, there is something charming about Hashim Thaçi’s almost aggressive campaign: we have started to bet on the millions that he is going to promise today, or how many jobs he would promise tomorrow. Cufaj considers that Thaçi’s campaign would look completely different if U.S. Ambassador Tracey Jacobson did not interfere by stating that the position of the President cannot be touched until her mandate is over.

Therefore, despite his statement given to one of the dailies more than a year ago, in which two mandates as prime minister are enough, Thaçi does not have any other option but to announce his candidacy for the upcoming elections and win by all means. If PDK does not manage to govern again, then he would no longer be able to lead the party. He has enough experience to know that the mentality of the territory does not support losers, therefore he cannot accept being second place to Isa Mustafa or Ramush Haradinaj in order to wait for Jahjaga’s mandate to end.

Cufaj says that Thaçi’s governing model has created a monster, which cannot be compared or compatible with EU governing values. He considers that even PDK supporters do not trust promises about thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions to be invested in the next four years. This is because we have decreased foreign investments in Kosovo during the seven years he has been in government  and because the millions belong to taxpayers and they have to be distributed for basic needs. All Thaçi has are millionaires, the ones his government created, says Cufaj and adds that the list failures by this government is very long.

Cufaj considers that the opposition in Kosovo, no matter how divided it is, has a chance to win. However, this opposition has to be ready to say: “we are too far; we are the poorest and most isolated country in Europe, with the poorest healthcare services in Europe, with the lowest salaries in Europe, with the most corrupted education in Europe…”And it is even worse that it will take years to improve the situation by the latest government. “Thaçi never cared because he was busy abusing millions and creating millionaires that would stay close to him,” concludes Cufaj.
