Serbian municipalities from Kosovo north are pressed by Pristina request to change recently adopted Statuses or, as stated, there will be new elections. Municipal officials are expecting support of the government in Belgrade, in order to find the solution.

Namely, Kosovo Ministry of local governance expects that majority Serbian municipalities harmonize their documents with Kosovo laws. In order to finish it, Ministry gave them the deadline till 18 April.

Darko Radovanovic, president of Zvecan municipality said that they received a request to change 12 points of the Statute, and one of requirements is to harmonize the stamp with Kosovo law.  “We have made the statute in accordance with the UNSC resolution 1244. The statute is in compliance with the Brussels agreement and is status neutral. We used the symbols of municipality. We will consult with the Management team for establishing Community of Serbian Municipalities, as well with Serbian government about the required changes,” he said.

President of the Mitrovica North Assembly, Ksenija Bozovic claims that so far this municipality didn’t receive any request for change of the Statutes. She stated that this week a joint meeting between representatives of Serbian Municipalities and Kosovo Ministry could be organized, in order to discuss disputable issues.
