Municipal statute of Zvečan/Zveçan is expected to undergo 12 amendments, one of them refers to the municipal seal which should be harmonized with the Kosovo law, carried Novosti.
Being under pressure of Pristina to amend their recently adopted statues or to get ready for new local elections, Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo expect support from the government in Belgrade in finding solutions.
Ministry of the Local Self-Governance of Kosovo expects from majority Serbian municipalities to harmonize adopted documents with the Kosovo laws for what they have a deadline until 18 April.
Speaker of the municipal assembly in Zvečan/Zveçan Darko Radovanović said to Novosti that they received an instruction from Pristina which refers to 12 articles of the municipal statute which should be amended, one of them refers to municipal seal which should be harmonized with the Kosovo law.
“We adopted the statute in line with the UNSC resolution 1244, it is harmonized with the Brussels’ agreement and status neutral. We’ve used symbols of the municipality, as well. With regards to changes which have been requested, we’ll consult the steering team for the creation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities and the government of Serbia,” said Radovanović.
Speaker of the local assembly in Northern Mitrovica Ksenija Božović claims that municipality didn’t receive any request for the amendment of the municipal statute, whereas a joint meeting, where all disputable issues should be addressed, between representatives of the municipality and the Kosovo’s Ministry of Local Self-Governance could take place this week.
