Dragoljub Delibasic, former police chief in the Serb-majority northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, has been transferred from custody in Pristina to a detention unit in Mitrovica, Irina Gudeljevic, spokeswoman for the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), said Saturday.

Gudeljevic told Tanjug that the transfer was conducted late on Friday.

Delibasic, arrested on suspicion of involvement in a 1999 war crime in Kosovo and post-war incidents in 2000, including an aggravated murder and incitement to an ethnically motivated murder, has been in detention since February 4.

On February 10, the Serbian government gave guarantees that a total of four Serb arrestees in Kosovo-Metohija, including Delibasic, will be available to the EULEX mission throughout their trials in exchange for their release pending trial.

Oliver Ivanovic, leader of the Citizens’ Initiative ’Freedom, Democracy, Justice’, is another Serb transferred to and from the same detention units.

His transfer took place on March 11, after a review panel of judges at the Basic Court found that there were no legal reasons to prevent Oliver Ivanovic from being transferred to the detention center in Mitrovica.
