The Kosovo Security Force launched activities today to demine five locations across Kosovo. The sites where mines are left over from the fighting fifteen years ago include two locations in Ferizaj/Urosevac, one in Luzhnica of Suhareka and another in the village of Nivokaz, Gjakova/Djakovica municipality.

KSF has undertaken all preparatory measures to carry out the demining operations professionally. Since 2010, KSF has managed to clean over 800,000 square metres of space and demolished around 10,000 mines and other explosive ordnances.

During the winter, the Demining Company within the KSF has held lectures across Kosovo schools about the danger of mines and unexploded ordnances.
