(Most monitored broadcasters, KTV)

Three Kosovo Police (KP) members were wounded in an ambush near Zubin Potok late at night on Monday. According to police reports, the ambush was set in the village of Bajsk, Zubin Potok, and the three wounded persons belong to Serb ethnicity. Only one of the wounded police officers is at a more serious health condition, while the other two have been sent home after receiving the medical treatment.

One of the three wounded persons is Zivorad Ivkovic, a Border Police Unit member. According to KTV sources, Ivkovic was involved in a conflict with Slobodan Sovrlic, who a few days ago was freed by masked persons in the Zubin Potok police station, as he had been arrested by Kosovo Police.

According to KP, so far there are not suspects for the incident, but KP is working to shed light on it.

The attack on three KP members was strongly condemned by the Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga.

Institutions find security situation calm

Despite the fact that ten murders happened within three months this year in Kosovo, security institutions consider that the situation is satisfactory, except in Pejë/Pec.

Addressing the Assembly Security Committee, The Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi and the Police General Director Shpend Maxhuni said that murders in Kosovo were happening for banal up to criminal motives. Mr Maxhuni said that since 2006, the number of murders has declined, while shedding light on murders has been increased.

The Committee members called on Rexhepi and Maxhuni for more responsibility. The Committee members wondered if Kosovo Police was ready to fight criminal gangs, and how the Police are failing to catch perpetrators even in the middle of the day.

Vetëvendosje MP Rexhep Selimi enquired whether security institutions are in control of the situation in the north as well.

Anton Çuni of LDK asked how come that the KIA exam was passed even by those Kosovo Police members who, according to him, are related to organised crime.

Rexhepi and Maxhuni did not respond to those queries. They said they were willing to speak about those issues but only out of the media glare, because of the sensitivity.

Thaçi: Agreement on justice close to finalisation

(Most monitored broadcasters, RTK1)

The Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi confirms that the agreement on functioning of justice in north Kosovo is on the verge of its finalisation.

One day after the meeting with his Serbian counterpart Dacic in Brussels, Thaçi expressed his optimism that the agreement will be implemented in practice.

KDI: New mayors non-transparent

(Most monitored broadcasters, RTK1)

New mayors are not considered as transparent by the monitoring organisations. A research project conducted by the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) states that in the first 100 days of government, information on the official websites is not available, and communication with public is lacking.
