Serb MP in the Kosovo Parliament Rada Trajković, said to RTK2 that opening of the special court in Hague for war crimes in Kosovo is best solution due to distrust toward Kosovo judiciary .

International community, together with Kosovo institutions works on modalities of creation of the court which should trial war crimes committed in period 1998-1999 in Kosovo. Even though the details are not known yet, those accused for war crimes, including those brought under suspicion by the Dick Marty’s report, would in the end be tried at Hague,  instead of Pristina as requested by the Kosovo government, carried Pristina-based media.

Rada Trajković and political analyst Ardian Arifaj, agreed that reason for such decision is distrust of international community toward judicial institutions in Kosovo.

Rada Trajković, claims that having a special court in Hague is best solution and stressed that international community invested around EUR 2 billion in rule of law institutions since its arrival to Kosovo 15 years ago, whereas problems are still existing, thus distrust toward judiciary in Kosovo is justified.

“I think that this is huge job. We all want and expect protected witnesses who will witness on such a disgusting and serious crimes like human organ trafficking,” said Trajkovic.

Political analyst Ardian Arifaj said to RTK2 that decision on having a special court in Hague is not final, however there is a need for court’s branch to be out of Kosovo.

“Roomers which are circulating that a special court’s branch could be out of Kosovo is a signal that international community doesn’t trust Kosovo judiciary and doesn’t believe that it can be professional and  unbiased in order to carry out the process till the end, and that process is being such that all can have confidence in it. That’s way there is a need for the part of the court to be out of Kosovo,” said Arifaj.

Trajković and Arifaj also agreed that bringing criminals in front of justice is a precondition for normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
