The paper’s front-page editorial notes that the prosecution has finally decided to tackle suspected corruption affairs in Pristina municipality. “The arrest of an entire municipal department is a sign that officials, former officials and other people with ties to the construction mafia could be brought to justice. Several members of the municipal assembly had already denounced this criminal network. Opposition leader and former Pristina mayor, Isa Mustafa, will not be able to avoid responsibility for these scandals. He has yet to make a statement after the arrest of ten municipal inspectors and the owner of a construction company … Law enforcement authorities need to take their investigations to the end and not stop with a series of arrests. We are left to hope that this is another media spectacle, but that the construction mafia and all other criminal networks that have taken hostage the capital city will be fought all the way.”
