In an exclusive interview for RTK, US State Department Director for Central and East Europe, Jonathan Moore, said EULEX has a future in Kosovo and one of the steps that should be undertaken from the Assembly in this current mandate is precisely the decision about EULEX new mandate.

“Kosovo is not special with regards to corruption. This issue is talked about everywhere, in every part of the world. It is normal for political parties to accuse one another, especially ahead of elections and campaigns,” Moore said.

With regards to visa liberalisation, Moore stressed that the “visa liberalisation issue is very important for citizens of Kosovo but there are certain criteria that need to be fulfilled. Kosovo has strong supporters in the European Parliament, like Tanja Fajon, who have given their assessments regarding visa liberalisation.”

“Religious extremism is happening everywhere. Unfortunately, we have had recently involvement of several youths in Syria. We encourage institutions of Kosovo to make it possible for people not to be inspired by these events, but if this happens then when these people return to Kosovo they should not commit terrorist act,” Moore stressed.

“After elections in Kosovo we hope to have a coalition that will manage to tackle issues like continuation of dialogue with Serbia, continuation of Euro-Atlantic integration process, transformation of KSF into Kosovo Armed Forces and above all, economic development and opening of new jobs,” Moore said for RTK.
