Transfer of Kosovo customs officers in the border points in north of Kosovo is not done any more from EULEX since last November. This is done already with transport vehicles of Kosovo customs; this is confirmed from general director of Kosovo customs, Lulzim Rafuna.

He evaluates that the issue of transport of Kosovo customs officers in the north was not part of the talks with Serbia. This, according to Rafuna is part of internal organization of Kosovo customs

“It is not part and it will not be part of talks, because this is our internal duty. And the issue of transporting customs officers belongs to us as Customs and we have organized this as in any other point. Also after EULEX departure there will be no obstacles for our officers to travel to border points.”

Meanwhile, it is expected a change of this component after which changes are expected to be made in EULEX mandate, EULEX press office in Kosovo did not want to comment about it. “The present mandate is valid until June. Negotiations between Kosovo, Brussels and EU member countries are continuing. It would be immature from our side if we would speculate before the final result,” writes in the answer of this mission to Radio Kosova.

Independently that in Brussels was achieved the agreement between Pristina and Belgrade in connection with the normalization of the functionality of border points between Kosovo and Serbia, Kosovar and EULEX customs officers continued to face difficulties in the road traffic from south into north of Kosovo. Because of these obstacles, Kosovar customs officers continued to use EULEX, or KFOR helicopters to arrive in their working places in north of Kosovo.
