From one tribunal to another (Tribuna)

Vetevendosje deputy leader Aida Dërguti writes in her opinion piece that compared to the war in Croatia and Bosnia, the conflict in Kosovo was shorter, but that paradoxically, it was and is still being judged the most. “In international circles, our war was always called a conflict and not a war, viewing Kosovo as part of Serbia and the war as an internal conflict. But when it comes to trials, all crimes are called war crimes. They don’t recognize our war but they don’t hesitate to call them war crimes. To add to the confusion, the next tribunal will also address events one year after the war, but we all know that UNMIK and KFOR had competencies during that period. The fight of the KLA keeps going from one tribunal to another. Trials are happening, because we kept silent. No one documented Serbia’s crimes in Kosovo … Kosovo’s governments gave up on seeking justice for crimes committed by Serbia. Now we see Prime Minister Thaci distancing himself from his war, by saying that he was not on the frontlines. This is the only way he can prolong his life in politics, despite the fact that the Tribunal is aimed at criminalizing the fight of the KLA. People who don’t assume responsibility for their actions and for the liberation war but pave way to the tribunal do not deserve to be at the helm of the state.”
