Deputy war crimes prosecutor Bruno Vekaric denied today that the former EULEX Prosecutor Maurizio Salustro was adviser to Serbian prosecutor’s office, as the Kosovo media reported.

Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) conveyed today that Salustro and Judge Francesco Fiori are under investigation for corruption, taking bribes and abuse of power.

Vekaric denied the Kosovo media allegations that Salustro as of “few weeks ago is adviser to the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor.”

– He (Salustro) does not work and has never worked in the Office of the War Crimes. These are malicious insinuations that for long time are taking place in Kosovo – he said.

As reported by RTK, EULEX judge and prosecutor were involved in war crimes cases in Kosovo, and are suspected of taking bribes from local lawyers in Kosovo.

EULEX spokesperson Irina Gudeljević said that the mission will react, if it turns out that there is a suspicion that they have committed a criminal offense, but the presumption of innocence should be respected.

– I cannot comment the media reporting, that’s all for now I can say. We take seriously all allegations of corruption and we allocate adequate and proportional resources to investigate all allegations of corruption, regardless of where the corruption occurred – said Gudeljević for RTK 2.
