KTV editor-in-chief Adriatik Kelmendi argues in his opinion piece that all war crimes suspects need to appear in court regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender or age. “All individuals who are found guilty of crimes need to receive the merited punishment. The same should apply for all countries of the former Yugoslavia. Justicia, the Roman goddess of justice, appears as a woman with her eyes closed, with a scale on one hand and on the other hand the sword, the symbol of judicial moral. This is to make sure that justice should apply the same for everyone, no matter who they are. Is this principle valid in the establishment of the ‘new tribunal’ for Kosovo? No! This is a super-selective judiciary. ‘A special tribunal’ for a specific case of war suspects, for a specific ethnic group and for a specific group of victims. Is this done for the purpose of justice or politics? If the purpose of this ‘tribunal’ is justice, this only makes matters worse, because it involves racism, because the prejudgment is that Albanian prosecutors and judges are not capable/skilled/professional/reliable to try another Albanian (as was the case with crimes in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia). If there is a political purpose, then no politics is more evil than selective manipulation of victims. And since the international agenda of ‘justice’, as a result of political pressure, is focusing only on cases that attract the most attention, then as a sign of protest, this article will be summarized in the four following sentences: 1.090 Albanian children were killed or went missing from Serbian forces during the war in Kosovo. 185 of them were younger than seven. No one was punished for their killing! International conscience: when will a ‘special tribunal’ be established for the children of Kosovo?”
