The paper’s front-page editorial notes that similar to other public sectors, healthcare too could not escape extreme politicization, mismanagement, lack of professionalism, nepotism and lack of investments. “Nearing the end of their mandate, some members of parliament have now decided to talk about the crisis in the healthcare system and the lack of reforms. But such criticism is aimed at shifting the attention because in fact everything is about the interests of certain clans and businesses and not about the fate of the people. The ‘strong’ people in government interfere everywhere, from the selection of managers of clinics to the appointment of an assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine. It is no accident that this faculty is marred by corruption affairs. All governments in Kosovo have ignored the healthcare system. This conclusion is confirmed by the fact that the Ministry of Healthcare was always left to minority communities or smaller political parties. The main responsibility falls on those who have the majority in parliament and who head the government. Our politicians do not care about the crisis in the healthcare system, because with their pockets full they can seek medical advice abroad. They should at least allow professionals to work free from political pressure”.
