Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga met separately today with Prime Minister and PDK leader, Hashim Thaci, LDK leader Isa Mustafa and Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti, to discuss the transformation of the EULEX mission and the establishment of the Special Court.
Jahjaga’s meetings with Thaci and Mustafa were held in the morning and there were no media statements. After his meeting with Jahjaga, Kurti said there should be a tribunal for Serbia for crimes it committed in Kosovo. Kurti said the war crimes tribunal will damage Kosovo’s image. He added that he doesn’t believe the United Nations Security Council will decide to establish the tribunal and the matter will be decided in parliament next week. Kurti also said he rejects the extension of EULEX.
Jahjaga also met with AKR leader Behxhet Pacolli and SLS leader Slobodan Petrovic. Pacolli said after the meeting that it is better for parliament to decide on the establishment of the tribunal rather than have someone else make that decision for Pristina. Pacolli said the AKR would play a constructive role in the establishment of the tribunal. He also said that he prefers parliamentary elections to be held in September or October.
