Kosovo’s Minister for Communities and Returns, Dalibor Jevtic, said on Thursday that land should be secured to reconstruct the houses of Roma returnees from Montenegro and Macedonia. During a conference on International Roma Day, participants agreed that the Roma community is faced with difficult conditions and that a lot remains to be done for their integration and equal status in Kosovar society.

“There are several problems and obstacles that stand in the way of the full integration of the Roma community in Kosovar society. The Ministry for Communities and Returns has implemented several projects and activities aimed at resolving problems of the Roma community. Last year, following my visit there, IDPs living in Montenegro and Macedonia started returning to Kosovo. I want to thank the EU Office in Kosovo, the UNHCR, local governments and other institutions that assisted in the implementation of this important project,” Jevtic said.
