Repatriated persons from Sweden have difficulties socializing in Kosovo (Radio Kosova)

Kosovo Red Cross through projects of social welfare is helping repatriated persons from Sweden. Officials of Kosovo Red Cross, say that until now have been repatriated about 150 families. Meanwhile, few returned family members say that the integration is not easy as it was promised from Kosovo institutions.

Ministry of Internal Affairs, with different social welfare projects is calling on Kosovo citizens who are living abroad to return in Kosovo, promising to them favorable living conditions.

Lulzim Beqiri, one of repatriated persons from Sweden says that to him it was promised a house and employment, but he claims that opposite happened to him. “I am homeless, on the streets. They are paying my house rent,” said Beqiri.

He says that the aid he becomes every month are those promised from Swedish Red Cross in cooperation with Kosovo Red Cross „They have helped with groceries, clothes, red cross kept their promise,” said Beqiri.

Antigona Sopjani, coordinator of social welfare in Kosovo Red Cross, said that through the program for repatriation in cooperation with Swedish Red Cross, until now are identified 150 cases of returnees.

“Red Cross supports only those families that are referred from Swedish Red Cross. There are cases where persons have lived for 15 years in Sweden and they did not get residence permit.” Said Sopjani

According to Sopjani, few repatriated families have serious health problems and Kosovo Red Cross is trying to help these families  with medicament’s.
