Liberation war will not face the trial, its abusers will! (Koha Ditore)

According to Enver Robelli, Kosovo’s image will not be blemished if the war crimes suspects face trial and receive their deserved sentences. Robelli ass that the image of Kosovo will be harmed if this society continues to bear and accept the suspects for war crimes as deputies, mayors, and senior state officials. He said Kosovo should always welcome justice:

“The court will be established within the following weeks. If the Assembly of Kosovo does not approve its establishment, the issue will be submitted to the UN Security Council. There is no doubt that this would have been a good chance for Russia to demonstrate its impact on world policy. The Russian representative at the UN, Vitali Churkin, will be the first one to raise his hand for the special court. When all of Kosovo’s western allies are isolating Russia due to the aggression against Ukraine, Pristina would offer Moscow a chance for political profiling at the UN forum. The only solution is to vote on the issue of the new Tribunal at the Assembly of Kosovo, without wasting time on nationalistic fairy tales and lame patriotism.”

Robelli said that it has become obvious that demonising the Swiss envoy at the European Council, Dick Marty, for his claims on inhumane treatment and organ trafficking in Kosovo, did not bring any good to Kosovo. According to Robelli, one should not mix Marty’s accusations with his objections on Kosovo’s independence. He criticizes the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, for his initial reaction on Marty’s report “with a hurt Albanian pride and using a range of emotional accusations.”

Robelli reminds readers that Marty was awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice in 1987 for his merits in the war against drug trafficking and international crime. He also adds that Marty was not proclaimed as an anti-American, even after criticising the CIA in 2005, when he lead the investigations of the European Council on the secret transportation of prisoners at CIA and U.S. secret service camps in Poland and Romania.

Now, the U.S. is requesting that the current deputies of the Kosovo Assembly vote for the establishment of the special court. The request contains a clear political message: a Parliament dominated by deputies, who stole votes and with blemished political records, has to vote for its own trial…Therefore it sounds more like cynicism when Hashim Thaçi says “The Assembly should vote for the special court,” concludes Robelli.
