The front page editorial of this daily writes that this year’s official figures from Kosovo Customs show a trade deficit in Kosovo for over half a billion. Kosovo exports are symbolic while imported goods have overrun the territory. The unfavorable environment to make business has strangled Kosovo entrepreneurs, while foreign investors are mainly focused on the sectors which bring a quick profit, such as telecommunication, infrastructure, energy, etc. Kosovo needs to immediately increase production. The territory needs factories more than kilometers of asphalt. Kosovo is suffering the consequences of an almost failed privatization. The enterprises that used to produce not only for internal needs but for export as well, were sold or in some cases even given for free. Currently, lack of clear economic policies and improvisations of the Government on the verge of elections, have made the business perspective even more confusing. No matter which party wins the next elections, they will fail if they do not manage to induce local production. A state which continuously depends on import, even though it possesses all the resources, is destined to suffer economically, concludes this daily.
