EULEX police has arrested a Serb in northern Kosovo as part of investigations into serious crimes that allegedly took place in Kosovo-Metohija after the 1999 conflict in the province.
EULEX spokeswoman Irina Gudeljevic told Tanjug that EULEX police acted on an order issued by the international prosecutor at the Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office (KSPO) and conducted the arrest operation in Tuesday morning.
The arrested person was wanted for aggravated murder, aggravated murder and causing grievous bodily harm, Gudeljevic said, stressing that the relevant investigation is in connection with war crimes committed in Northern Mitrovica in February 2000.
The arrested suspect was taken to a EULEX Mitrovica base to be questioned there by the KSPO international prosecutor, Gudeljevic said.
According to unofficial sources, the Serb is N.V., an employee of the public enterprise Posta Srbije.
