Deputy President of the Civil Initiative SDP Ksenija Bozovic said that more than 7000 signature are gathered for petition requesting Oliver Ivanovic to be released pending trial.

Bozovic said to Kontakt Plus radio that petition will be handed over today or tomorrow to EULEX, international judges at Basic Court in Mitrovica and the Special EU Representative to Kosovo Samuel Zbogar.

CI SDP earlier communicated that initiative was launched couple days ago in Mitrovica in cooperation with the Serbian government and Office for Kosovo.

Oliver Ivanovic was arrested in late January under suspicion for committing serious crimes in Kosovo during 1999 and 2000. After more than a month spent in detention Ivanovic launched a hunger strike requesting the transfer to North Mitrovica, what took place on 12 March.

Ivanovic is one of the detained Serbs for whom Serbian government issued guarantees that he will be available to local judicial bodies if he is released pending trial.
