Minister for Communities and Return in the Kosovo government, Dalibor Jevtic, announced that his ministry will launch a fund-raising initiative aimed at accomplishment of the church of Christ the Savior in Pristina. “That will be our clear answer to announced demolition of the church,” communicated Ministry of Communities and Return.

Reflecting on the statement of the Minister for Spatial Planning in the Kosovo Government Dardan Gashi that Pristina municipality should bring decision on whether the church should be legalized or demolished, Jevtic said that the only thing that could be discussed is accomplishment of the church.

“What should be known to Mayor of Pristina Shpend Ahmeti and Minister Gashi is that church Christ the Savior in Pristina, is a part of cultural and religious heritage of Serbs in Kosovo. Thus, we can only discuss the accomplishment of the church, not its demolition,” said Jevtic.

Jevtic assessed that, ahead of parliamentary elections in Kosovo, certain individuals tend to announce actions and events in order to drive public attention.

Ministry also communicated that it will stage discussion with all relevant international stake holders in Kosovo in order to prevent demolition of the church.
