Publicist Enver Robelli argues in his opinion piece that Serbian author Dobrica Cosic “is suddenly talking about peace in the Balkans, after preparing the ground for hundreds of thousands of victims in the Balkans with his positions and influence”. In an interview for Nedeljnik, Cosic admits that Belgrade has lost Kosovo and he reveals how we agreed with late Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic to divide Kosovo. “In 2002, without the knowledge of the people of Kosovo, the current Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, became an ally in this project,” Robelli writes, quoting political activist Ilir Deda who talked about Thaci’s meeting with Djindjic on the matter. Robelli further writes that with such maneuvers in the first post-war years, Thaci tried to present himself as a flexible partner of the international community and as an alternative to the “stubborn” Ibrahim Rugova who was insisting on Kosovo’s independence. “In the series of efforts to get as much approval from the international community as possible, Thaci and his party – the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) – suggested a moratorium on the settlement of Kosovo’s status, which was in fact a proposal to delay independence,” Robelli writes.
