Special Representative of the EU in Kosovo Samuel Zbogar talked yesterday with the Kosovo Minister Dardan Gashi on the fate of the church of the Christ the Savior in Pristina. Meeting was also attended by the Head of the OSCE in Kosovo Jean-Claude Schlumberger.

Gashi carried to Zbogar that undefined status of the Serbian Orthodox Church’s (SPC) temple should be resolved without politicizing and with insistence that experts have their say over the issue.

Representatives of Kosovo Serbs and the SPC have accused Gashi for announcing the demolition of the church in Pristina downtown, what was later rejected by the minister, who claimed that he only said that the church doesn’t have a construction permit.

Gashi said that he agreed with Zbogar that no national community, particularly not the Serbian community in Kosovo, has reasons to get upset due to the processes launched in Kosovo, since everyone’s rights are guaranteed. He added that solutions for all problems should be found through implementation of the laws.

Spokesperson of Pristina Municipality Adonis Tahiri yesterday said to Pristina-based media that procedure which will apply in case of the church will be the one applicable for premises constructed without the construction permits and that he expects the request for construction permit for the church to be submitted.
