Petar Miletic, Vice President of the Kosovo Assembly stated that there was no a single word about the alleged trade, according to which the Serbs in the Kosovo Assembly would support establishment of a Kosovo army, in exchange for reserved seats.

He argues that the Serbian MPs, for now, are against changes to the regulations that would allow formation of the armed forces of Kosovo.

However, this calculation from recently begun to be mentioned in the Pristina media. Hashim Thaci said that minority communities “accepted certain solutions” regarding the reserved seats in the Assembly, as a condition to vote for the armed forces of Kosovo .

Miletic, however, says that these two issues are completely separate, and that the aforementioned “trade” is at the level of speculation, though it may be a topic of discussion: “Establishment of the army is a political issue and we all know that according to the UN SC Resolution 1244 only KFOR armed forces may be in Kosovo. Therefore, this should be also discussed by Belgrade and NATO.

The proposal on the establishment of the army requires two -thirds votes of minorities, and currently there are 25 MPs, representatives of minority communities. Among 25 MPs, 13 are Serbs, which means that without Serbian representatives the law cannot be adopted.

The president of CI “Srpska”, Vladeta Kostic said that this kind of arrangement with Pristina is absolutely unacceptable: “Kosovo Army is detrimental not only to the Serbs in Kosovo, but for the entire region. Saber rattling is just another form of intimidation of Serbs and therefore we call on all Serbian members of the Kosovo Assembly not to agree to any trade, or blackmail.”
