To be protected residential and property rights (Lajm)

From 11 April until 27 April 2014, OSCE mission in Kosovo has organized a series of five workshops to raise awareness for protection of residential and property rights for non-Albanian communities, in particular, expropriation of land, illegal usurpation of land and taxes for estate property. In this workshop participated, 115 officials from municipalities, ministries, Kosovo Property Agency, Kosovo police as well as representatives of non-Albanian communities, including civil society Organisations and village representatives? Representatives of non-Albanian communities have requested better protection of their property and residential rights, and encouraged municipal officials to deal with expropriation cases and to better inform displaced persons affected by expropriation about their rights and the existing legal protection. They also called don courts to give priorities to the illegal re-occupations of their properties, while the re-occupiers are misusing their lands during the time as long as the judicial procedures continue, few of which are still coninuing.
