Publicist Armand Shkullaku argues in his opinion piece that PDK leader and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci will not lose anything if early elections are held. “On the contrary. It is not common for a politician in the Balkans, let alone an Albanian politician, to agree to cut short his mandate without trying every trick to remain in power. Thaci is an exception in this case. With more than seven months of his mandate as prime minister, he is thinking about securing another four-year mandate in government. For this reason, he has launched an unusual campaign and has left behind his rivals who are dealing more with one another. With a high intensity, Thaci is visiting every corner of Kosovo, he is meeting people and businesses that have impact on voters, he is taking pictures with lambs and playing soccer, he is trying to bring back enthusiasm among young people through social networks and by including them in politics, he is using his position as government chief to promise higher salaries, he is erasing debts and making subsidies. This great energy is a sign that the PDK leader is most interested in holding elections as soon as possible. By going to early elections, Thaci wants to benefit from problems that are marring the opposition.”
