Hundreds of former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army and citizens have demanded the immediate release of Fatmir Limaj, Naser Shala, Nexhmi and Naser Krasniqi, arrested by EULEX on November 26th in the Kleçka case. Muharrem Xhemajli, chairman of the War Veterans Association, said the veterans never wanted to protest but they are forced to hold them because many KLA members are being arrested. He added that the biggest reason for the protest is the recent detention of Limaj.

“We meet in another protest today. We always wished that there will be no need to protest. But the witch hunt against KLA members is continuing. Kosovo’s prisons are filled with KLA combatants who are still being persecuted. In jail are fellow combatants from the Kiçina case, Sabit Geci and many other friends. These meaningless arrests happened even on the 100th anniversary of the independence of the Albanian state,” Xhemajli said.

Xhavit Jashari, representative of the Association of Families of Martyrs, said they are not against internationals but against the policy of EULEX to arrest liberators. “We call on EULEX not to play with the dignity of Albanians. The dignity of the Albanian people and nation are the members of the KLA war,” Jashari added.

Xhemajli accused EULEX and Serbia’s circles for the arrest of former KLA members. He also said that Limaj was detained unlawfully and that he and his associates should be released immediately. Xhemajli called on members of the Kosovo Parliament to review the mandate of EULEX. The protest was peaceful and lasted for 30 minutes.
