Cancellation of the election campaign for the upcoming Kosovo parliamentary elections set for 8 June by Srpska Ticket is a reflection of frivolous politics with regards to Kosovo issue carried out by authorities in Belgrade as of 2012, stated yesterday the official of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) from Kosovska Mitrovica Marko Jakšić.
Jakšić said to Beta agency that Srpska Ticket is trying to gain ‘small’ political points amongst Serbs by the announced boycott of the election campaign.
“During local elections in Kosovo, which were held in November last year, it was clearly visible with how much passion Serbian state forced Kosovo Serbs to turn out on those elections. Now, they are trying to gain certain privileges with that boycott, whereas they will agree on anything that will be requested by Brussels and Pristina,” said Jakšić.
He stressed that he doesn’t believe that Kosovo Serbs will boycott elections set for 8 June in an organized fashion.
“Authorities in Belgrade, Pristina and Brussels have agreed to say, that, no matter on real results, at least 25 per cent of Kosovo Serbs have turned out. They don’t bother how many Serbs will really vote on 8 June, but that ballot boxes are filled with lot of ballots, which will be counted by themselves,” said Jakšić and added that provincial board of the DSS has called on Serbs not to vote on elections of the ‘so called state of Kosovo’ and voiced expectation that other patriotic parties will have the similar position.
“If Albanians have boycotted 12 years all elections slated by Serbian state in the southern province, we can also boycott elections of the so called state of Kosovo,” said Jakšić.
