The fourth high-level meeting in the framework of visa liberalization dialogue between Kosovo and European Commission took place in Pristina today.

Kosovo delegation was led by Minister of European Integrations, Vlora Citaku, and Interior Minister, Bajram Rexhepi, while European Commission was represented by general director of internal affairs, Matthias Ruete, head of EU office in Pristina, Samuel Zbogar, director of the general directorate for enlargement, Jean Eric Paquet.

in today’s meeting, EC gave its early assessments from the fact-finding missions and gave the opportunity to the Kosovo delegation to give its input on the recent progress in implementation of the criteria from the visa liberalisation roadmap, including reintegration of repatriated persons, fight against organised crime and corruption, inter-institutional cooperation in the field of rule of law and fundamental rights.

After the meeting, Citaku said they were encouraged by the European Commission assessments regarding the progress Kosovo has made in meeting obligations of the visa liberalisation process. “It is a joint evaluation that we are in the final stage of this dialogue”, she added.

“It is important to continue with high performance of institutions at the local and central level so that the right to free travel for citizens of the Republic of Kosovo is materialised without further delays”, stressed Citaku.
