Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci issued a statement to the press hailing the removal of the barricade on River Iber/Ibar voluntarily by citizens of the Serb community living in the Mitrovica North municipality.

“This reasonable and anticipated act from the citizens living there clearly shows the maturity and readiness to live in peace, free and without barricades. The removal of the last barricade is another evidence of successful implementation of April 19 Agreement between Kosovo and Serbia as part of normalization of relations between two independent states. Barricades, be it physical or psychological, have no room in a democratic Kosovo and are unacceptable for civilized values of our society”, said Thaci.

“As a prime minister of all citizens of Kosovo, I commend you for this civilized action. Furthermore, I assure you that the Government of Republic of Kosoov will be fully committed to make capital investments in the northern part of the country, open new jobs and improve the citizens’ welfare”. Only by developing Kosovo and embracing western values we secure our future in the EU and NATO”, said PM Thaci further.
