Municipality and UNICEF with a joint programme for children (Koha)

Municipality of Gjakova/Djakovica and UNICEF singed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding for joint implementation of “Gjakova Fit for Children” initiative. The MoU was signed by Mayor Mimoza Kusari-Lila and head of UNICEF Kosovo Office Laila Omar Gad.

Kusari- Lila said that she is happy the municipality of Gjakova is the first to begin the UNICEF project. “As a mayor, as a woman and a mother, I am committed to ensure the lives of children in the Municipality of Gjakova is of a better level and I am very pleased we have teamed up with a partner like UNICEF”, said Kusari-Lila.

According to Kusari-Lila, the memorandum entails a series of activities, change of policies for improving the lives of children in the municipality of Gjakova, inclusiveness of all groups and communities and increase of the living standard.

Head of UNICEF for Kosovo, Laila Omar Gad, said the MoU addresses several aspects that will help in improving conditions for children in Gjakova. She said that the “Gjakova Fit for Children” project has to do with improvement of local government policies so as to be able to provide the children with more effective services. One of the focal points of the memorandum has to do with the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian (RAE) community and its integration on the social policies that will be developed in the project.
