The chairperson of the Serbian parliament’s Committee for Human and Minority Rights Meho Omerovic assessed, with regard to the ban for his visit to Ivanovic, that “something is very suspicious in relation with Ivanovic’s detention” in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Omerovic said to Politka that real reason may lay in the second paragraph of the justification  that his visit ‘could leave the impression on witnesses that Ivanovic is still politically active, that he has wide support of various politicians and that he is above the law’.

Omerovic highlighted that it is particularly worrying about justification, issued by the court in Kosovska Mitrovica, that himself, as the chairperson of the Serbian parliament’s Committee for Human and Minority Rights, could intimidated the witnesses.

Omerovic said that he has no idea which witnesses it is about and asked how could he intimidate witnesses by visiting the man who is in detention for six months without being indicted?

“Six months in detention and such justifications, which are weird at least, will deepen the distrust toward something that is called judicial system of Kosovo and Metohija,” said Omerovic.
