Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) expressed suspicion today with regard to information of the Serbian Government’s Office for European Integrations that 49 per cent of citizens support accession of Serbia in the European Union.

“Whether the information of the government’s Office for European Integrations which published results of the alleged poll, based on which 49 per cent of Serbia’s citizens would support on referendum accession of Serbia into the EU, whereas only 19 per cent would be are against, can be trusted?, asks DSS in a communiqué and made a comparison between the government of Serbia and the cake-shop which is offering ‘tasteless and rancid cakes’.

DSS interprets that support of 49 per cent of citizens to Serbia’s accession in the EU also supports formal and legal recognition of independence of Kosovo, joint foreign policy even in case when it is contrary to state and economic interests of Serbia – like in case of Russia, than it would support and unlimited sale of the agricultural land to foreigners and further weakening of the state.

“It is not possible, it is simply not possible, despite the vicious media campaign of the Euro-dependents, that only 19 per cent of citizens of Serbia recognizes and believes that only free Serbia, Serbia outside the EU, through cooperation with all, can protect Serbian state interests, national and economic interests and improve the lives of citizens,” concluded DSS in a communiqué.
