Kurdish television KNNC reported that Kosovo Albanian Lavdrim Muhaxheri, who joined jihadists of the extremist Islamic State, has been killed in clashes with Kurdish defense forces, and his body was shown during the broadcast.
The 24-year-old from the town of Kacanik in Kosovo who joined Jihad in Syria and committed brutal crimes there, attracted attention of the media in late July when he posted photos on Facebook showing him holding a Syrian 19-year old captive and preparing to decapitate him with a knife, and then posed before the camera holding the severed head in his hands. In an interview published by the Tirana daily Dita thereafter, Muhaxheri stated that he did nothing more than what members of the KLA did during the conflict in Kosovo.
The media in Pristina report that before fighting in Syria and Iraq, Muhaxheri, worked for American KFOR forces in Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo, and for NATO in Afghanistan.
