CEC to register National Front “Ballist” Party

(RTK2)

A “Ballist” [Monitor’s note: term refers to Albanian anti-Communist resistance movement during World War II] movement or the National Front Kosovo – 1939 will soon be able to start with official political work and participate in the election, Frankfurt-based Vesti reports. The Central Election Commission (CEC) is about to register the party whose name is mostly associated with the collaboration with fascists during the World War II and with horrible crimes against Serbs and other non-Albanians.

According to “Vesti,” seven out of eight CEC members voted in favour of registration of this party, with only Nenad Rikalo voting against, who said that at that time, the quorum depended on his vote, but added that this would not be the case next time.

Barricades in Ibër/Ibar River Bridge to be removed in September

(RTK1)

RTK reports that the officials of Kosovo government believe that the barricades over the Ibër/Ibar Bridge will be removed next month. According to them, the barricade removal is foreseen in a European Union’s evaluation as well.

Edita Tahiri acting deputy prime minister during an interview to RTK said: “In the beginning of September, the European Union is expected to present an assessment of technical situation on the Ibër/Ibar Bridge that will determine the necessary scale of the bridge reconstruction, that the bridge will be returned to its normal condition to offer free movement of citizens and vehicles. The bridge reconstruction plan envisages removal of the so called “Peace Park” and other barriers on and under the bridge, Tahiri said.

On the other hand political analysts consider that “Peace Park” is a result of institutional deadlock in Kosovo.

KTV reports Serb and non-Serb communities continue to be seen as a key factor for the establishment of the institutions.

Both blocks are aiming to have their votes during next constitutive session of Assembly which is expected to be held during the first week of September.

Early on Monday, Hashim Thaçi wrote on Facebook that they had agreed with the 6+ to work together as partners of the current coalition to overcome the political and institutional stalemate. “Let us join forces to constitute the Assembly and form the new government in which the political group 6+ is going to take a deserved place. Establishment of institutions on an as broad political base as possible remains my commitment,” he said.

On the other hand, the opposition block LDK-AAK-Nisma, also met the six MPs of the non-Serb minorities.

After an informal meeting with parliamentary group 6+, LDK Leader Mustafa, said that he believes that in the next Assembly session the LDK-AAK-Nisma block will have the majority of votes.

“I cannot speak for the votes of the Group 6 + members, but they were very cooperative about our project that has to do with the rejection of Thaçi’s government,” said Mustafa.

Similarly, the AAK Leader Ramush Haradinaj said that the goal is not to waste more time and to continue with the 17 July Assembly session and with election the Assembly Speaker and later the Government.

TV21 reports that after the meeting Veton Berisha and Etem Arifi, MPs from the post-electoral coalition made up of 6 non-Serb minorities stated that “ we haven’t promise “loyalty” to Hashim Thaçi and that 6+ will join either party that will have the numbers to form the government.

On the other hand Flora Brovina said that once the Assembly receives the material from the Constitutional Court, consultations would be held with heads of parliamentary groups to avoid the problems of the first meeting. I really hope that they will accept to consult. Continuation of the session will be held next week Brovina said.
