Jahjaga and Ashton discuss process of Kosovo-Serbia talks

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga met with the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Baroness Catherine Ashton, with whom she discussed the European perspective of Kosovo and of the region, as well as the dialogue process and normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

Jahjaga and Baroness Ashton underlined the importance of continuation of the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia with EU mediation, which will help in bringing closer both countries to EU and will contribute to the peace and stability in the region and easing of the lives of citizens of both countries, reads a press release issued by the Office of the President.

President Jahjaga stated that Kosovo remains dedicated to the dialogue, as it views it as the only path towards normalisation of relations between two countries: however, she pointed out that all agreements reached at the dialogue process in Brussels must be implemented in its fullness. She said that implementation of agreements must help the free movement of all the citizens of Kosovo.

According to Jahjaga, Kosovo has made a step ahead in its European path after the initialling of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), but she emphasized the need for the conclusion of the visa liberalisation process that will enable the free movement of the citizens of Kosovo in EU countries, as is the case with all the other countries of the region.

Baroness Catherine Ashton said that the Balkan region, inclusive of Kosovo, has made advances in the last few years, but more work is required in fulfilment of required standards on the integration process.

She also said that dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia must continue, as this will help the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Jahjaga met with Baroness Ashton after the official launch of European Forum Alpbach that is being held in Austria, where she is taking part.

Ivanovic: Serbs could promote their rights by participation in Kosovo government

(RTK2, TV21)

Participation of Serbs in the new government of Kosovo, in full coordination with the Serbian government, could prove a far more efficient way to promote vital interests of Serbs, considers Oliver Ivanovic leader of the Citizens’ Initiative ‘Serbia, Democracy, Justice“ (SDP), who is being held in detention for seven months now as a war crime suspect.

In an interview from prison with Serbian daily Dnevnik, Ivanovic said that by participating in the government, Serbs will have more access to overall situation and they have the possibility to suppress extreme ideas that are against the interests of Serb community.

As Ivanovic said, the new MPs that came out of Srpska List must be trained from Serbia to make politics, as they have no prior political baggage.

Maliqi: A government dependant on Srpska List would easily be brought down

(Klan Kosova, TV21)

Political analyst Shkelzen Maliqi said that it is not a good thing that Srpska List to be determinative for formation of future government of Kosovo.

Maliqi is convinced that a fully-dependant government on Srpska List would not last long, because, at the crucial moments, PDK with Vetëvendosje, supported by MPs of other communities or somebody that is dissatisfied by the opposition bloc, would easily find the common language to bring down the government, Maliqi said.

According to him, the opposition bloc does not have qualitative numbers for a new government.
