The leader of the Civic Initiative Serbia, Democracy, Justice, Oliver Ivanović, said that the charges pressed against him were monstrous and fabricated and had been politically motivated and that he and his attorneys would persist in discrediting them. In reply to the questions posed on the Internet portal of Radio Television Serbia, Ivanović, currently detained in Kosovska Mitrovica, said that Kosovo Albanians had been the indictees in several major court procedures in Kosmet, which is why Eulex has concluded that his arrest would display a balance in action. He is charged by the Kosovo Prosecution of, on 14 April 1999, in Northern Kosovska Mitrovica, in a capacity of the leader of a Serb police unit, having instigated some police members to commit war crimes against civilians. Ivanović has denied the charges categorically.
