UN Secretary-General appoints Jennifer Brush of the United States as Deputy Special Representative for the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Jennifer Brush of the United States as his Deputy Special Representative for the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). Ms. Brush succeeded Robert Sorenson of the United States on 1 September 2014. The Secretary-General is grateful for Mr.Sorenson’s contribution to UNMIK during his tenure.

Ms. Brush has extensive knowledge and experience in international and regional conflict resolution and in Western Balkans affairs. Previously, Ms. Brush served as the Head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission in Moldova from 2012 to 2014. She has served for more than 25 years in the United States Department of State, including postings in the Western Balkans, Poland, Turkey, Marshall Islands and Turkmenistan. She has also served as Director of the Office for South Central Europe and Senior Coordinator in the Bureau of Nonproliferation/Office of Proliferation Threat Reduction.

Ms. Brush graduated from the Newcomb College of Tulane University and earned her Master’s Degree from Princeton University.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1956, she has one son.
