Former Self-Determination’s caucus whip in the Kosovo parliament and member of the new legislative assembly Visar Imer stated last night that negotiations with Serbia won’t continue unless Serbia doesn’t recognize the independence of Kosovo.

Imeri said to Pristina-based KTV that Self-Determination movement will honor the agreement concluded with the post-election coalition made of Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), however there won’t be any further dialogue with Serbia ‘without mutual recognition by two states’.

He called on Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) to ‘come to its senses’ and accept that, despite the majority of votes they received on early elections held on 8 June, ‘they are still minority in the parliament’, and that they should allow the session of the Kosovo Assembly to take place.

Imeri assessed that point 127 of the Constitutional Court’s justification referring to unconstitutionality of the decision on election of Isa Mustafa for the Assembly Speaker, can provide the exit from the current political deadlock. That point instructs MPs in the Kosovo Assembly to find the solution for overcoming the current situation.

Imeri assessed that neither President of Kosovo nor others have the right to take Kosovo toward new elections and that such right rests only in hands of the MPs, that is, if they manage to gather two-third or 80 votes for extraordinary elections.
