President Jahjaga accepted the Progress Report

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, accepted today from the Special Representative of the European Union in Kosovo, Mr. Samuel Žbogar, the Progress Report for 2014 and the EU Enlargement Strategy approved by the European Commission, which assesses the overall progress of Kosovo towards European integration.Wednesday, 08 October 2014

President Jahjaga welcomed the Progress Report for Kosovo, stressing that this report evaluates the recognition of the achieved progress of Kosovo in fulfilling the European reforms in the last year. At the same time, President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is committed that the challenges identified in the report to be addressed with the highest seriousness from all the institutions of Kosovo.

President Jahjaga stressed that the new institutions must urgently implement the commitment for reforms and to address the shortcomings identified by this report.

President Jahjaga also welcomed the European Commission’s readiness to assist Kosovo in a new phase of relations with the EU and to intensify the dialogue with the National Council for European Integration, led by the President of Kosovo.

The Special Representative of the European Union in Kosovo, Mr. Samuel Žbogar, praised that the Progress Report is a positive report which assesses the successful conclusion of the process of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, the progress to date in addressing the criteria for visa liberalization, the cooperation with EULEX and the commitment for the creation of the Special Court, the progress in the dialogue for normalizing the relations with Serbia and the election process in Kosovo.
