Danilo llic from Kosovska Mitrovica, who bought a house in 2002 in North Mitrovica downtown, could remain homeless in a week.

A Kosovo Albanian has won the case at the court, which ruled that he is the owner of the house and property, whereas Ilic did not participate in a litigation at all, and said that he didn’t even receive an invitation from the court to participate in litigation. Ilic added that only communication from the court was final decision that he has to leave the house. In his statement to Tanjug agency he said that he bought the house in 2002 and learned in 2006 that an Albanian has managed to register that house on his name with the help of two witnesses.

Lawyer Miodrag Brkljac said that the case of Danilo Ilic is an example how property has been snatched from Serbs in last ten years in Kosovo. According to Brkljac Albanians usually claim, with the help of witnesses, that they have bought the property earlier and file law-suits against the other side, that is Serbs, but without stating their addresses. Thus, temporary attorneys are appointed to Serbs, who are actually used in order that courts rule that property belongs to Albanians, explained Brkljac.

The court ruled that Ilic has to leave and if he doesn’t leave the house on his own, he’ll be evicted with the help of Kosovo police on 17 October.

Ilic has addressed the EULEX in relation with this case but they replied that the case doesn’t fell under their jurisdiction.
