Coalition between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK), Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) and Vetevendosje – LVAN – are ready to give up the post of Assembly speaker to the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) but they fear that once the PDK takes it, it will not allow President Atifete Jahjaga to nominate the Bloc’s candidate for prime minister, an unnamed official from the Bloc said.

“There have been discussions on the possibility of the Assembly speaker’s post going to PDK only to resolve the political crisis and form institutions. But, if we give this post to the PDK, there is a danger of them delaying indefinitely the session”, the source stressed.

Officially however, the Bloc’s leaders have ruled out the possibility of letting the PDK elect an Assembly speaker. They insist the solution is within article 127 of the Constitutional Court’s ruling. At the same time, a senior PDK official said that if they manage to elect a speaker, they will manage to also form a government.
