Jahjaga: Kosovo cannot not allow political and financial crisis

(All monitored broadcasters, RTK1)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga warned on Thursday that Kosovo cannot allow political and financial crisis. According to Jahjaga, this will harm Kosovo citizens and the international strategic partnership. She said that a sooner solution for the institutional deadlock would allow Kosovo to meet its obligations.

To identify a solution, Jahjaga met with LDK and AAK political leaders separately. Following the meeting with the President, LDK leader Isa Mustafa said that there will not be new elections, an option that is being discussed recently as a way of taking Kosovo out of the current crisis.

“Our opinion remains that our parliamentary system should be respected and decisions are made by the majority. However, we also showed our readiness to be part of consultations and discussions, and we support President’s efforts to finding of a solution. I cannot speak about the solution today, as it should be acceptable for all the sides,” Mustafa said.

Meanwhile, after meeting the President, AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj said that time for establishment of new institutions has come. He emphasized that this must happen by respecting the majority.

Asked about the possibility of organizing protests by the citizens, AAK leader Haradinaj said that he does not think of taking part in protests, or call them.

(RTK2)

Mayors of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë North, Leposavic/Leposaviq, Zvecane/Zveçan and representatives of Zubin Potok municipality consider that the security situation in Kosovo north has aggravated. They urged Kosovo Police to fully engage in protecting Serbs and guaranteeing security for all citizens.

Representatives of the four municipalities, in a meeting with regional representatives of Police in north and at the presence of the missions in charge of security, urged Kosovo Police to fully engage in protecting Serbs, guaranteeing security for all citizens who live in municipalities near Albanian-dominated municipalities.

A press release issued following the meeting reads that security situation in the municipalities of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north and Zvecan/Zveçan has aggravated, adding that this is part of an organized and synchronized provocation kindled at the football match between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade on Tuesday evening.

“The citizens of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north and Zvecane/Zveçan are intimidated and distressed by the latest display of hatred and intolerance which is reminiscent of the March 17, 2004 pogrom,” the statement reads.

It was concluded that the police will draft and implement appropriate operation plans, while the prosecution is expected to bring cases against all organizers, participants and perpetrators who took part in disturbing public peace and order.

Serbia-Albania football match continues to provoke incidents

(Klan Kosova& RTK2)

It seems that violence that happened in Serbia-Albania football match did not end at the pitch, but, incidents that aimed at Serb settlements also happened in Kosovo. On the other hand, two bakeries owned by Albanians living in Serbia proper were burned down. Match emotions have not diminished in Kosovo either.

On Thursday morning someone inscribed graffiti at the entrance gates of Serb houses in Crkveno Vodice village of Obiliq/Obilic.

‘Albania’ and ‘Kosovo’ graffiti are believed to have been inscribed during Wednesday night. This incident has disturbed 40 Serb families, who underline that these provocations are related to the events of Serbia-Albania football match.

Another bizarre case happened in ‘Fazli Grajqevci’ primary school of the same village, which is shared by Serb and Kosovo Albanian pupils. Someone hanged a drawing of the ‘Great Albania’ map, similar to the one seen at Partizan stadium during the match between Serbia and Albania.

One more incident happened two nights ago in Gojbul village of Vushtrri/Vuçitrn, where a Serb-owned store was attacked with two Molotov cocktails. According to police, this case was reported on Tuesday evening.

Work of Kosovo prosecutions below average

Many data were made public in the report of the Kosovo National Coordinator for Fighting Corruption presented on Thursday. But, Laura Pula did not provide any details about persons that were accused within this period, no matter that according to laws in force indictment is a public document.

As far as corruption cases are concerned, members of the Prosecutorial Council consider the work of Kosovo Prosecutions as below average.

Out of 866 corruption cases throughout Kosovo, very few of them ended with indictment, since over 50 per cent of investigations ended or criminal reports for them were rejected.

To find out the reason behind rejection of criminal reports, Pula requested establishment of a Working Committee, but her idea did not find the necessary support.

Kosovo minister of justice Hajredin Kuçi added that, with all the numerous councils dealing with corruption, the Prosecutorial Council would need to remain the only address for this matter.

Ombudsperson criticizes Police

(TV21, RTK1)

Kosovo Ombudsperson Sami Kurteshi called an extraordinary press conference on Thursday. At this press conference, he spoke about the manner that Kosovo Police behaved with his driver, while he was returning from work. Kurteshi considers that Kosovo Police behaved irresponsibly.

“They literally asked the driver where he drove the Ombudsperson today. Of course, the driver objected and said that he will not give that information to him. Then he (driver) was asked if he had weapons. He told them that he did not have any. By doing this, they made a legal violation,” Ombudsperson Kurteshi said.

The Ombudsperson said that he will address this issue to the competent bodies.

On the other hand, Kosovo Police spokesperson Brahim Sadriu told RTK that he is not aware of this case. Nonetheless, Sadriu said that in case someone exceeds his authorizations in relation to the citizen, the victim has the right to complain at police bodies.
